As soon as this blog assignment was posted, I knew exactly the person I wanted to interview, my dad. Since my dad had such a strong affect on my music taste, I wanted to learn more about how his music taste came to be, and what affected his music taste! When he was growing up, he listened to a lot of classic and progressive rock of the 70’s and 80’s. (Which is not surprising, he really got me into this). When I asked him who had the most influence on his music taste, he said his friends had more of an influence than family regarding what he listened to. His opinion on the music today vs what he listened to and still listen to today has few musical similarities with todays genres. He states one of the biggest differences he hears is how musical sounds produced today seemingly rely heavily on technology.
